One of them I meant to give you forever ago and kept forgetting, actually. [Rinku rubs the back of her head.] Open it, open it!

[Inside the box is, like, 30 bracelets with light-up screens and an instruction manual. It declares them to be A_WAVE bracelets, able to read biometrics such as pulse rate, perspiration, and other indicators to tell how excited the wearer is with perfect precision. The latest innovation in the entertainment industry to literally get the pulse of the fans! ...There's also a hilarious element of portraying it as "exotic high tech from America" like a 1980s movie in reverse.]

[She picks up a bracelet and turns it this way and that to get a better look at it.]

Biometric readings, huh... This looks fun! I'll definitely fiddle around with these, see what I can use them for.

Yeah! They're A_WAVEs, they're what Abyssmare brought over when they were still trying to crush everyone else and become the best. They're our friends now, but before then, they would give these out to everyone in the audience during DJ battles and festivals and stuff, so they could prove everyone liked them better. It was everyone, too! Well, I guess up until they challenged UniChØrd. That's when I got to wear one, it was kinda cool. But I don't wanna use these in a DJ battle, it feels kinda weird.

That seems like kind of mean of them! I promise I will find a much more fun use for these.

[This goes over Rinku's head because of course it does. ...Mostly. She does pay it a bit of attention, makes a little squeak, shakes her head, and decides to immediately not think about the most realistic possibility of what Evangeline's more fun use is. Neechan, why are you so embarrassing.]

They were pretty mean back then. But I think they're a lot better now! Even if sometimes they're still hard to understand or get along with. Like Elsie-chan doesn't threaten to have her bodyguards kill you if you make her mad anymore, she just yells at you.

[Trying hard not to giggle at Rinku squeaking. Honestly, what did she expect?]

That's a definite improvement in my book. I bet you won them over with your personality.

[She doesn't know! She just thought they'd be better off with Evangeline... which, well, they are, but.]

Eh? You really think so, Neechan? I think it was everyone, actually.

Everyone probably contributed, but you're great at making friends. The best I know at it, really.

Leon flicks his tongue, and Rinku pets him. Hina flies around Evangeline and kind of bonks her head into her hand to see what she's holding.]

Don't bite it, okay, Hina-chan? You might break it, and it's Neechan's.

Are they really delicate? Or I guess Hina's a stronger biter than I realized?

[Hina proudly shows off her little fangs!]

I don't think they would break, but she's broken stuff before. She really likes to bite.

That's fair! When you don't have hands or eyes, it's hard to interact with things in ways other than biting.

[Hina squeaks happily. She flutters around Evangeline and then perches on Rinku's head again.]

Yeah, a lot of things are hard for her. I'm sure she'll find other stuff she likes to do, though!

I hope so! What hobbies would be good with her physiology... does she like music?

[Hina squeaks in a vague approximation of a song. Mecchan warbles along with her -- maybe it's a game?]

She's tried to play Mecchan's toy piano sometimes! Except by bonking her face into the keys.

[Notably, she does not clarify whether it was any good... but Evangeline has already seen that and knows the answer is no.]

Yeah, I don't think keyboard-based instruments are the way to go here. But she could do, like, a harmonica I think?

Oh, yeah! As long as she didn't get her teeth stuck. What do you think, Hina-chan?

[Hina squeaks contemplatively. What's a harmonica? She chews on Rinku's braid.]

[If she had to guess how to interpret 'squeak and chew braid'...]

I guess she's not sure either.

That's what trying is for! Maybe I should take her and Mecchan to the store to try out the instruments. At least the toy ones.

Even if they don't find anything they really like, I think a trip like that would be fun! You should record them and send it to me.

[Hina squeaks excitedly. Mecchan warbles -- is she sure it won't be scary?]

Yeah, it'll be fun! Though I could bring you a cardboard box to hide under again if you get nervous about playing in front of other people.

[He contemplates this.]

Lots of people get nervous about playing music in front of people. That's pretty normal, I think. It's okay.

[Mecchan blows a bubble. He looks at Evangeline and nods nervously, and Rinku pets him.]

Yeah! Neechan's right. And it's not a show, so you won't have a big audience!

[Mecchan relaxes and smiles. Hina, for her part, starts rocking from side to side and squeaking.]

Eh? Hina-chan, are you trying to sing? I guess that means you wanna go try out the instruments?

I think she's excited for it! She's singing and dancing.

[Or at least, kind of singing and sort of dancing?]

[Rinku reaches up and pets Hina. Both of them smile wide.]

Yeah! It'll be a lot of fun! And hey, if you guys don't figure out what you want to do here, that's fine. You have lots of time to think about it!

[Mecchan looks relieved. He's still worried about what he wants to be when he grows up... he's a Sobble, why is he even worrying about that?]
