[Fajra lets out a soft moan as Evangeline begins work on leaving hickeys behind. It did feel a little off, not talking about this more, but she knew that's not what Evangeline was ready for. They made progress as best they could.

At least Evangeline would let her care about her, even if Evangeline was guarding her own heart from pain.]

Evangeline slows down, leaving nibbles and love bites all over in addition to the hickeys. If Fajra wants marks, Evangeline is more than happy to provide.]

[Sometimes negative feelings were necessary, something Fajra had learned over time. However, they had time, they could take it one step at a time.

She pets Evangeline's hair as she slows down.]

[Ah, right, there were those pesky clothes. Best to get them out of the way. She snaps her fingers, and all of Fajra's clothing disappears off of her body and reappears on the floor.]

Mmh that's it. When I take over, do you want me to do the same? Marking you up, I mean.

[She leaves a hickey on the inside of Fajra's thigh.]

[One very extended fucking session later, the pair of them had hickeys all over, sticky thighs and a pleased, exhausted afterglow.

They'd made it to the bed, at least, and Fajra was snuggled in behind Evangeline, acting as the big spoon.

She kissed Evangeline's cheek.]

I... I... hope you don't mind, but I don't feel right just leaving our conversation from before at just what we said.

[Now that she'd comforted Evangeline, it was starting to bother her to just leave it alone.]

...Yeah, I kind of figured.

[Evangeline turns around - she wants to at least be looking at Fajra when she has this conversation.]

I'm as ready as I'll ever be. What do you want to know?

[This was a lot harder than fucking her silly.

Fajra reaches out, cupping her cheek with one hand and laying a gentle hand on her waist.]

Perhaps... it would be best if you told me about your experience with your work. As much as you can tell without it being too much. I understand if you need to cry, or what you say don't feel like all that much. It's just... if you don't open up to me, I'll have a harder time trying to help you.

[Why do you think she wanted to stick to the sex, that's way easier!]

I don't think I could cry if I tried, I don't remember the last time I did.

My job at L Corp is, primarily, to gather energy with interaction with Abnormalities and to suppress them when they breach containment. 'Minimizing employee causalities' is a very distant priority compared to maximizing profit. You can die so many ways, from a single mistake, or even if you didn't do anything wrong and are just unlucky. I've lost count of how many coworkers my facility has gone through.

Management kills you if you try to quit. I've stopped getting attached to my coworkers. Even here - even though I know people will come back if they're killed, the idea of opening my heart like that is...

[That... not being able to cry was sad in itself. She had many emotions. Sadness for Evangeline's life, rage at the people that ruled her life, and feeling of helplessness to do anything about it right now.

She pulls Evangeline in close, petting her hair while looking directly into her eyes.]

I'm sorry, I'm so sorry. You don't deserve for things to be this hard for you, you don't deserve to be in this horrifying situation, and be unable to cry about it.

[Tears pricked Fajra's eyes.]

Even if you don't open your heart... I have no choice but to open mine. I care about you. Not just as someone fun to be with, but for the woman you are. So please... even if you can't open it all the way just yet, at least let me help you shoulder your burden.

If you're afraid, let me be afraid with you. If you're sad, let me be sad with you. I want to share more than just the good with you. Is that... okay?

Fajra...

[Evangeline hugs her tightly.]

I know this will sound even worse, but - I'm not usually afraid, or sad. Because that's how life is and it's what I'm used to. At home I focused on physical relationships with beings I could count on to never die, and here I focus on enjoying myself in a peaceful world. I don't dwell on things I can't change.

I want to be your friend. I care about you that much. And I'm not trying to hide anything from you, it's just that I don't focus on that part of my life when I can avoid thinking about it.

Then... at least let me search for a way to bring you back with me, rather than having you go back there.

[She hugs Evangeline tight, too, tucking her face into the woman's shoulder. Fajra tried to put up a brave face for Evangeline, but she couldn't help but cry for her.]

It's not fair, it's not fair that you have to put up with this. You're so kind-hearted, so sweet.

[Fajra's world sounds so much better, a wonderful place where constant death isn't the norm. She'd be crazy not to take her up on that.]

-My parents rely on the paychecks I send home, I don't - I don't want to just abandon them. [She can't. They're the only people she still loves with all her heart.] But - if you could find a way to bring them too, then... I'd be forever grateful.

[It's not perfect, but she'd give Evangeline every luxury she could provide.

She clings tight, still crying, her shoulders shaking.]

Then I'll try! I'll try with everything I have. I will learn how we were brought here, and how this magic works. Even... even if it's hard. I'll do it.

I won't make promises I don't know if I can keep, but I will try and if I succeed... then all I ask in return is you let me try to court you.

[You don't have to, Evangeline wants to say. If it's hard, or it takes too much time, then Evangeline understands. But Fajra - really wants to help her, and she...

Even if she can't understand herself being worth that, she'd be happy if her parents were safe.]

Okay. If we all make it to your home, then I'll try dating you, even if it's scary.

[Evangeline was worth it! She was. No matter how much she didn't believe it or understand it. Fajra would do her best for Evangeline.

She presses kisses to Evangeline's cheek. Not sexual, but full of warm emotions.]

Thank you, and I promise I'll care for you, even if we merely remain friends. I think you just deserve a chance.

[Fajra holds her tightly. She made a promise to herself she would bend the heavens and the earth if she had to in order to take Evangeline and her parents away from that horrible place.]

You're a wonderful friend. And I do care about you too, as much as I'm able to right now.

[She isn't ready for courtship, but friendship - even if it's scary, she can accept friendship here.]

Then right now, we're very good friends. I know what you said about rarely feeling anything about your home situation... but if things get hard, please at least consider calling me.

[Nightmares came to mind, but she wasn't going to put the thought into Evangeline's head by saying it out loud.]

Thank you for talking with me, I know it was hard for you. It just didn't feel right leaving it at what we said before.

It's alright. When I need help, I'll come to you. But... when things are fine, I don't want you to treat me differently than you did before. I want to make lots of happy memories here.

[She couldn't stand being pitied or treated like she's fragile. Even if she is, in some ways.]

Of course. You're still the same woman I know and care about.

[She cups Evangeline's cheek and leans in to place a soft kiss on her lips.]

How about in a week or two, we both get drunk at the greenhouse and then go stargazing?

[A good palette cleanser to prove she would treat Evangeline the same as she ever did.]
