Speaking as someone who gets it.
The loneliness...the loneliness does a lot more damage. It makes things a lot worse for a lot longer.
Because the grief you already have echoes in it.
When you let other people in, its a lot easier to remember what the past love feels like.

It takes a lot of time and patience and there will be people who will help you adjust if you trust them.
