Is it like that fake meat that's made out of peas and beets? That stuff is kinda different, huh.

As the food smell starts to spread, Mecchan and Hina wander out of the tent from where they'd been playing with blocks. Hina is about to fly towards the fire, but Mecchan grabs her by the foot(? Are those feet?) and babbles at her nervously. She redirects to perch on a log.]

Oh, hey, guys! This needs a little more time to cook. Okay, now we put in the eggplant slices first, then the mushrooms, then some more garlic...

[Putting in the ingredients, hm hm hm.]

It's kind of like that except the peas and beets are also fake?

Whoa... that sounds kinda weird. I bet this food's way better.

[She stirs in the food and smiles at Evangeline.]

It's kinda fun having someone else helping!

I'm sure it will be! It already smells way better than the artificial stuff.

[Hina squeaks in agreement from the log.]

Thanks, Neechan! I wanted to do all the fun camping things with you. At least all the ones you can do when there's monsters and stuff running around, and if we did river rafting these guys might get scared, so maybe not that right now. I just brought toys and books for them instead.

I've never really been camping for fun? Just for missions. But so far this has been really nice.

Yeah! Maybe next time I should take Mary-chan too. We gotta bring her something back, she always asks for souvenirs when I go out questing.

[Rinku stirs the food and points out the bags of cut-up seafood.]

When the eggplant gets soft, we gotta add those. There's a can of baby corn in there, we put that in then too, and a little bag of... I think it's paprika, it's the closest they could get here. I guess it's easier to grow spices when the land's not full of monsters and Darkness and stuff.

We should definitely take Mary out camping sometime! -Not very far in, though. I know between you and me we could protect her, but I don't want her to get scared at all.

[Mary's a good girl who deserves to feel safe and secure!]

Yeah, I'm kinda worried about her too. I have Barrier Stones, but she might wanna help get wood or hike or something. That's half the fun of this stuff.

[Turning the food in the pot!]

Are you bringing Misu-chan back something too? And Julie-Su-chan?

Misu's never asked for souvenirs, and neither has Julie-Su, but maybe I should? What would Julie-Su even like...

Hm... I dunno! I'd just like a shell from the beach or something.

Yeah, I think that's a you thing? I don't think Julie-Su would be as excited about it.

Oh... okay. But it's treasure...

[She turns the vegetables and tests a piece of eggplant on the side of the pan.]

Okay! I think it's about time for the rest of the food to go in here.

Oh, right. Seafood, baby corn, paprika substitute.

[In it goes!]

[Mecchan and Hina make excited noises. Rinku continues stirring things until the food comes to a boil, and then she takes it off and puts in the broccoli and yams.]

Then back on the fire... I promise it's almost done!

I can be patient! Promise.

[Does she seem like someone who wants instant food...]

[Well, someone does, judging by Hina's hungry squeaking in the background. Mecchan is still holding onto her, doing his older-sibling best to prevent her from taking off to go try and bite a carnivorous maple mouse or something.]

I know! I just sometimes get hungry and wonder why cooking takes so long. But I guess that's what happens when you cook when you're hungry.

Aren't you hungry a lot, though?

[She sees her snacking a lot throughout the day...]

Oh... yeah, that's true, huh.

[Not denying how she's constantly eating...]

Either way, it is kinda fun to learn to make your own stuff! I'm trying to do it more and not just get us all instant or kibble. I mean, these two like the kibble, but they like human food better... and Hina-chan likes blood, it's a lot better now that I listened to Eve-san and started asking for it at the meat department. Even if it is kinda awkward.

I think that's really admirable. I should take after your example, I'm really not used to cooking and I probably order pizza way too much.

[Rinku rubs her face on Evangeline and stirs the pan. After a bit, it starts to smell really good, and she puts down the spoon and pulls out some spice shakers.]

Okay! Salt, pepper, parsley... [shake shake stir] I think it's ready! Everyone get your plates, okay?

[Plate and fork and napkin ready!]

How do you like it? I've made it on the trail before, but only a couple times.
