We just gotta go up to one of the rocks that has a sword in it and pull it out at the same time! Then whoever the Vessel is has the light go into them. That's how it worked when I tried it with Jean-san.

[Evangeline goes over to put her hand on a sword.]

[Rinku grabs the same sword with a smile.]

Three, two, one!

[She pulls up the sword, hoping something really cool happens...!]

[Evangeline pulls at the same time! And the light goes into her chest.]

Oh! Looks like you get the cool weapon.

Wooow! Let me try, let me try!

[Rinku reaches out and a handle rises up out of Evangeline for her to pull on. She pulls out a scythe almost as tall as she is, with star charms hanging off the end and a glittering blade the colours of Evangeline's suit. Rinku is staring in awe like she's a seven-year-old who's just been given a pony.]

This... this is... ohhh, 「Happy Around!」

[Is she doing the spin with the scythe oh yes she is.]

Please don't Happy Around with a scythe until you have some practice with it-

[Rinku blinks a few times. And then notices she's cut a nearby shrub in half.]

Oh... ahaha. [She rubs the back of her head.] Sorry... But it's just so cool! Look at it! It's like... I dunno, everything about it's just you!

I'm glad you like it so much, but it's a bladed weapon, please be more careful. It's really easy to injure yourself with a scythe.

Aww. [Rinku snuggles the handle and pulls back to look it over.] It really looks cool, though. And I bet it's strong! I know the sword I get from Jean-san is stronger than my regular sword.

It's based on the bond we have, right? So... it should definitely be strong.

[Happy Rinku noises. She very, very reluctantly lets the scythe de-summon back into Evangeline so she can immediately hug her and rub her face on her.]

In that case, I bet it could beat anything. Anything anything!

[Evangeline is better to hug than sharp object. Squeeeze.]

I don't know about that, but with enough practice, I bet you could handle most things.

[Softer too! Snug snug.]

I'm gonna do my best anyway. I guess we should add scythe to the training now, huh... I was trying to work on pain tolerance more too, but I dunno how to train for that.

[Given all the bruises and bandages on her right now, that's probably a smart idea.]

Scythe training sounds good. Pain tolerance... I don't know how I feel about deliberately causing you pain instead of it just being a byproduct of training.

[Maybe it's not that different, but it feels different and bad.]

Huh, I didn't think about that. [She hums in thought.] Maybe it'll just happen on its own? Like an experience thing?

Probably! That's how I got my pain tolerance, I didn't specifically train for it.

That makes sense. And I don't wanna hurt people, even if they ask for it, so I see why you wouldn't either.

[Huuug. Even if it's not as tight as normal because everything hurts.]

Have you been doing any fun quests and stuff? I helped Amy-chan get some mummies last week, and Kantera-san was really strong against the giant food...

Oh, the matching costumes quest was fun! Even if I'm not great at costumes yet. And I helped some polar bears make their way home, that was nice.

Oh, that sounds so fun! The bears are really cute, but I don't have ice... I kinda stuck with stuff I was good with. Like stuff that's weak to fire, or weak to light, or that I had a bunch of charms against...

[Rinku lets out a massive sigh of relief and slumps against Evangeline.]

I was wanting to help, yeah, but... also show I could do it. I didn't wanna be scared anymore. Or for all of you guys to think I'm weaker and shouldn't be included when something happens and one of our friends needs help.

So I talked to Davis-san, and he was interested in quests, so he said if I showed him how questing worked, he'd come with me and only step in if it got too bad. He did that whole "it's a deal" thing with the glowing and the [hums an approximation of the tune] and stuff.

[Oh, Rinku. She gives her shoulder a gentle squeeze.]

Even I would only take a high risk quest with someone else actively helping me. But I'm glad Max was there, at least.
