[Oh, no, a kid. Evangeline had been getting that vibe from her, but the confirmation of a lonely child fearing being judged just breaks her heart.

She smiles gently at the camera.]

Hi! This is Evangeline. I'm not busy at all right now.

I like your doll.

[An easy opener to help lessen her anxiety, hopefully.]

[The gentle smile seemed to come as a surprise. It was warm, friendly- so different to the face Garry made when he confronted her after learning the truth, denouncing her as something not human, not real- and she wasn't sure how to react to it at first.

The opener was appreciated to get her footing back, though, a small smile coming into her face as she held the doll up to give Evangeline a better view.]

She's cute isn't she?? Three of them came with me, they were in the room that got given to me when I first came here, but I don't know why the others didn't come too. I think they'd like it here.

...My name's Mary. It's nice to meet you.

Nice to meet you too, Mary. I'm glad you got to bring some friends with you, even if they couldn't all come.

[Three very cute friends!]

This is a really nice place. The people here have been very kind.

[A small nod of agreement- hey, were those two smaller blue dolls always in the camera shot, or did they just appear there now? Might've been a trick of the picture- But yes! Her friends were very cute! And she's glad they could come with her.]

It'd be a lot scarier if none of them came with me.

Yeah, they are kind. Everyone on the phone's been nice so far too. I don't know how long they'll keep being kind or if they might change or anything like that.

[A tighter squeeze on her doll.]

I've been here for almost a year now, and they haven't stopped being kind. But I know it takes a while to relax.

[She can't say she's relaxed completely, even after all this time.]

I know people can change quickly, even if they're your friends.

But I've not met many people before and I've not been here as long as you have. Relaxing is hard. And I want to see and do loads and loads of different things now I'm here. And meet lots of people, and make lots of friends- It's okay if they don't know anything.

[If they never found out she wasn't real, then she had nothing to worry about, right? Even talking like this made her a little antsy, if the way she was rambling on was anything to go by.

...Sure was be strange how those little dolls looked like they were staring at Evangeline through the screen.]

[The dolls are probably alive or eldritch or both, it's fine.]

...But if they never know, you're always going to worried about them finding out and rejecting you, right? You'll never get a chance to find out if they would love you for you are, that way.

I know they won't! They'll definitely- definitely reject me!

[Now there was the other reaction she showed when she was afraid. A flare of anger.]

[Still gentle.] Are you sure? I have a lot of friends who I know aren't human, and I like them plenty.

[Hugging the doll in her arms a little tighter- the anger and fear all falling out at once.]

They didn't- so- so- why should anyone else!

Well - sometimes it depends on the place you're in. When you're in a scary place, people are more likely to be scared, right? But this is a nice place.

[That was enough to make her think- the momentary pause slowing the flow of her anger into something more restless than vicious.]

...I think they were scared, in the gallery.

Even I wanted to leave that place. It was dark, and lonely, even with the rest of the artwork there.

[A small, little hopeful tone came into her voice, then. Maybe...even knowing the truth, Evangeline would be her friend?]

[A gentle smile in return.]

[And just watch as the little kid's face lights up.

Really?? I- I want to be friends!

Then it's agreed! We can be friends.
